The unavoidable call

October 9th 2011 my mom received the unavoidable call, she was called to rest.

She had been diagnosed with Lupus about ten years ago, being the strong woman she was, she fought, never complaining nor losing faith that she would overcome the illness.

She had several crisis and was in and out of the hospital several times, perhaps the most memorable of those times for me, was about seven years ago… She had been hospitalized for close to three months and quickly deteriorating, the doctors didn’t give her much time, I came to visit her with the news that she was going to be a grandmother for the first time, two days later, the doctors said that she was doing incredibly well and sent her home.

Three years later, she saw a second grand child come to this world and enjoyed their company for three more years.

Will power and a dream can go a long way for a long time, but that call will come regardless and all we can do in the mean time is find a purpose, put that purpose in perspective and persevere.

Good bye mom
